"It" nail color for Fall 2012!

Every season there's a nail color that I love seeing on the runway and what is better than a metallic gold?  I just love this look at the Behnaz Safpour show.  Winter is just when you need some "built-in bling!"

En cada temporada de moda siempre hay un color de uñas que es mi favorito y para el Invierno de 2012 es un color oro metálico.  Aqui lo puedes ver en el desfile de Behnaz Safpour para Invierno 2012.

A manicurist on a job not too long ago recommended "Charge it" by OPI at Sephora.

Una manicurista en un trabajo me recomendo el esmalte "Charge it" de OPI por venta en Sephora.

Mexico meets Milan- classic makeup rules at Dolce & Gabbana!

I'm loving the makeup and hair at Dolce's Fall 2012 show a few days ago. Makeup was just gorgeous and the hair reminded me of those beautiful Mexican and Guatemalan women who wear their "trenzas" adorned with beautiful ribbons full of color.
Make up artist Pat McGrath showed us that a beautiful, classic look is always in style!   She said she was influenced by the look of  Italian country women, so it was all about simple but gorgeous makeup.   The look was all about a bright and open lid with a beautiful soft contour.  Perfect brows and a strong flushed cheek.  Here are some backstage shots:
Latina influenced hair and makeup at Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2012
This is really one of my favorite makeup looks.  Keeping the lid light makes the eyes look bigger and brighter and the contour on the crease and under the eye allows you to make them as dramatic as you'd like without having too use a lot of colors.  Skip the eyeliner but add a few coats of mascara.

And right after declaring that all models should keep their eyebrows bleached Pat all of a sudden colored them back slightly for really a brow that is just perfect- not too thin or overly done.

Notice how she applies the blush, it's really strong on the apples and then blended upwards to get that really natural "flushed" look.   Dab some flesh tone lipstick with your fingers over some lip balm and you are done!

Hairstylist Guido was influenced by the Italian "Madonna" but it truly reminds me of Indigenous Latinas who wear their hair in similar styles.  Check out the finished look on Puerto Rican model Joan Smalls:

My new agent

Luis Casco Makeup Artist- CloutierRemix agency

I know I've been m.i.a. for a little while but I've been busy!  Lots of changes going on with me and my career and I want to let you know that I have a new agent here in Los Angeles.  After quite a long stint at The Celestine Agency I thought it was time for a change and I couldn't be any happier than to be on the makeup artist roster at CloutierRemix agency which used to be called Cloutier until not too long ago.

Check out my website there:
http://cloutierremix.com/luiscasco/index.php

And here are some of the other makeup artists they rep- check out their amazing work too!

Francesca Tolot:  I am a HUGE fan of her work- way before retouching it was flawless and of course she is in charge of most of Beyonce's makeup looks.
Collier Strong:  You've probably seen him on Project Runway as the L'oreal expert
Scott Barnes: Remember that J-Lo glow?  That was Scott who created that look for her and made it so popular.
Sue Devitt- Creator of Sue Devitt Cosmetics.

And that is just some of the company I keep with nowadays.  And as far as the blogasphere goes- don't worry-I'm back!

xoxo

Great foundation tips-Get them here!

A natural beauty: NBC's Lilia Luciano makeup by Luis Casco
Probably the question I get asked the most is how to get the perfect foundation look and really here are the steps I find to be the basic recipe for flawless looking skin.

Step 1- Cleanse and moisturize your skin daily.  I also recommend using a scrub and a moisture-rich mask at least once a week- do it you will see the difference.  Some of my faves are:

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask -it's like bathing your skin in moisture!
Mary Kay TimeWise® 3-In-1 Cleansing Bar- because I know a lot of people love to use a soap to wash their face- only this one is meant for that!

Step 2- Dot foundation onto:
1-forehead
2-nose
3-cheeks
4-chin
Then blend it with a brush-You can use a wet sponge for a sheer application but practice to know exactly how much you will need.  Try:
Mary Kay Timewise luminous-wear liquid foundation- for the price- the quality is amazing and the finish superb!
Chantecaille Concealer & Foundation stick- not cheap but beautiful texture and some great LATINA tones!  wheat and banana are some of my favorite ones

Step 3- Concealer: If you need it- just apply it after foundation or you'll just wipe it off.  Blend really well.
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage- This is the easiest concealer to use and the best part is that it comes in two shades so that you can adjust it to suit you.  I like to use fingers to blend it well (the warmth helps to blend it all together.)

Step 4- Powder- Again, if you need it.  Then you can add an illuminating type of highlighter for a modern, fresh look.

MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microfinish Powder -I've talked about this many times- I use it on everyone!
Guerlain Météorites Powder For The Face - Tried and true. Leaves your skin looking radiant!  Like it's been freshly scrubbed.

My favorite beauty products of 2011

Working with Kristen Bell 2011.  Makeup by Luis Casco
Since it’s the end of the year I just had to go back and share with you about some of my favorite products that I used this year.  Some of them are classics that you might already know but 2011 was definitely a year of new-great discoveries.
First are my favorite skin care products, I am listing them in no order of preference- I like them all!

1-   Clarisonic brush- I use this on myself every day now.  Not only does it really cleanse well but it It really preps your skin for moisturizers, just remember you don’t have to apply too much pressure when you are using it.  The bonus is the fact that I can keep it in the shower and just take it out when I need to re-charge it.
2-   Neutrogena’s Microdermabresion kit.  You can be your own facialist at home and on the road.  They recommend you using it everyday for the first week, not use it week two and then every other day for weeks 3 and 4.  I say use it a little less if you have sensitive skin and still get great results.  A great and affordable alternative to expensive facialist treatments
3-   Amway’s Artistry Creme Luxury Eye Cream.  This stuff works! I must say I am a sucker for packaging and at first I fell in love with the cool silver bottle that comes in a box worthy of fine jewelry, but after I used it I fell in love with the product itself.  At first, I was a little surprised that it was an eye cream that you applied all over the eyes (lid and all)  and not just under the eyes as most other eye creams.   I was worried that it would get in my eyes, I would wake up with red eyes, it would make my eyelids look oily etc, etc.  Instead it really has “brightened” up my eyes and I certainly see a difference from using it. A little bit goes a long way too.  I can tell you that you will see a difference after using it- I skipped a few days due to traveling and could see a HUGE change when I went back to using it.
4-   Mary Kay’s Night Solution.  I dare anyone I know to try this stuff for just a couple of nights and tell me they don’t see a difference!  Wow!!  Your skin will look fresh and almost like you’ve been airbrushed!  I tell everyone about this product.  This is a new product for Mary Kay and I actually met one of the scientists that worked (for a few years) on developing it and who told me all about it.  I’m definitely a believer and use this every night myself.  Get it!
5-   Embryolisse moisturizing cream.  This has become a makeup artist staple and a lot of us are carrying it in our kits.  Why? because It leaves skin with a beautiful texture but not too oily for under the cameras.  You used to could only get it overseas but it is now available in the US.  Anyone you are doing makeup on will thank you for the luxurious finish it will leave on their skin.

And now my list of makeup products:
1-     Tom Ford cheek color in Frantic Pink- This is the most amazing cheek color, lovely texture and a great tone that works on most people.
2-      MakeUpForever’s HD powder.  I use this on most of my clients, it has the lightest feel and it takes away shine giving the skin a matte luxurious feel.  I wish they would make a version for darker skin, even though they say it works in every skin tone I have found that it makes dark skin ashy.  Otherwise I love it!
3-     COVERGIRL’S lip perfection lip color.  Hands down my favorite lipsticks right now!  They have the same payoff as some of the more expensive versions and the colors –all designed by the guru Pat McGrath are g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s!
4-     YSL’s Touche Eclat.  A “classic” when it comes to makeup and worth the price!  It conceals but it also brightens the eyes.  Kristen Bell told me that is all she uses on her face (no foundation-nothing else!) and I believe it.
5-     Mary Kay’s “Lash Love” mascara.  There are many great mascaras out there but Mary Kay’s newest has the perfect brush to reach in hard to get to lashes.  It doesn’t give you “vavoom” lashes but a really wearable, beautiful look that a woman can wear anytime.  For a great dramatic look- layer with their “Ultimate Mascara” – I love the result!!
