The best makeup up looks from 2009!

1- 1980's punk revival marked the return of makeup artist Francois Nars who headed the team at the Marc Jacobs show.  Even though unwearable as is it is nice to see how every model had a different look suited for her face shape.  Great way to learn how to wear eyeliner.

2- Beautiful gold smoky eyes!   "The eye is still dramatic," says makeup artist Diane Kendal, who created the look at Carolina Herrera, "but the colors are softer." And at Dsquared2, makeup artist Val Garland blended a combination of gold shadows over M.A.C. Eye Kohl in Teddy ($14.50).

3-Love, love, love this look!  Looks great on anyone.  I like to use a cream eyeshadow applied with the fingers.  Try Mary Kay's Eyesicles or Bobbi Brown's Metallic Long Wear Cream Shadow.  Takes no time and it looks amazing!!!  "For a natural-looking, wintry flush, we wanted the face to look windburned," says Shiseido Artistic Director Dick Page, who used sponges to blend blush from the apples toward the hairline backstage at Marc by Marc Jacobs for the look on the picture.

4- Lips!  But they don't have to be just red- Dark brown, Berry and even chocolate brown can update your look.  Appearing at Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, and Lanvin, to name a few. "Super intense lipstick is strong and pretty, but skip the eye makeup for a more funky, Debbie Harry-ish look," suggests makeup artist Bobbi Brown, who mixed purple lipstick with a black cream pigment at Rachel Roy but suggests a glossier, sheer dark lip for real life.

5- Color!  always best when paired with a neutral liner like here at the Spring 2009 Gucci show.

This Fall's makeup must. Grey Eyeshadow!

Allure says for this winter "Gray isn't depressing when it's been livened up with hints of purple. The best shade is matte, though, because shimmer can make it seem colder."
Matte grays look amazing on the eyes-pair them up with a glossy lip and the look becomes modern and updated.  ANYONE can wear grays and their intensity looks amazing during fall's gloomy days.
It also looks great mixed with metallic colors like gold and silver used on the lid just like in the picture above.  And if you ever can't figure out how to wear colors like green and blue, gray is the perfect color to combine them with.
Here are my favorites:
1- MAC's Tone:Gray limited edition compact which comes with two shades of gray and a coordinating blue and highlighter color.

It is $36 and available here:
 http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/spp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT154&PRODUCT_ID=6492

2-Mary Kay's Granite- It has a little bit of shimmer but it is a wonderful gray that goes with a lot of skin tones.

It is a great value at $6.50, get it here:

3-Make up for ever in Slate Grey- Matte, perfect texture and just the right amount of pigment.

Behind the scenes at J. Lopez Allure Jan 2010 cover shoot

Shot by Michael Thompson.  Check out the backstage shots from Allure.com.  Makeup artist Scott Barnes did her makeup and played up bronze and gold tones for the cover.  Love the beachy lighter hair that frames her face!  The crazy head dresses?  well, better left for a picture...

Lady Gaga and Cindy Lauper new faces for MAC

I've always thought that Cindy was to the 80's what Lady Gaga stands for nowadays.  Like them or not, they're both style icons.  They're the new Viva Glam models for Spring 2010.  Check out the newly unveiled ad:

How makeup can change your face!

Sorry I haven't blogged for the last week.  I was out of town working on a shoot but I'll should be back on more regularly now.  I really love these pictures because they show you the different combinations of lip and eye makeup that you can use to create all kinds of makeup looks.  Amazing how makeup can change your face.  This girl goes from fresh faced teenager to sultry, sexy vamp.
1-Here's the most natural look.  Clean face, eyebrows just brushed up.  She looks very young here

2- This look is more finished, skin has foundation. Eyes have mascara and eyebrows are groomed.  Lips are the focus here.

3- Smoky eyes with eyeliner all over and inside the waterline.  Paired with the same lip as in look #2.  Her face takes on a more intense look.

4-Glam face!  Gold eyeshadow is dusted on the inner corners of the eye.  More mascara on the bottom.
An orange red lipbloss is added to the lips.  Blush is used here.

Penelope Cruz- Dec/Jan Interview magazine covergirl

Penelope is rocking that 80's wet hair red lips looks in these shots.  They also feature a wonderful interview of her by French actress Marion Cotillard.  Here's a great quote from the interview:
INSECURITY IS SOMETHING THAT COMES WITH BEING AN ACTOR—I DON’T KNOW ACTORS WHO AREN’T INSECURE. I DO THINK I KIND OF LIE TO MYSELF—THERE IS A PERCENTAGE OF EGO INVOLVED. AND I DON’T SAY THAT’S A BAD THING—IT’S GOOD TO KNOW THAT IT’S THERE WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT. BUT EGO IS LIKE A LION THAT WE HAVE TO KEEP UNDER CONTROL.—PENELOPE CRUZAnd the shots from Mikkael Jannson:

Cameron Diaz-amazing "V" magazine photos

Shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott for "V" here are some great shots of Cameron.  Love the fake tatoos and the makeup is gorgeous.  It's really like the makeup we saw at the Spring 2010 Dolce and Gabanna show.  Matte dark lips paired with eyeliner.  Her hair is such a great contrast to the clothes.   Gorgeous!
I worked with her before and I can tell you she is one of the nicest "celebs" around....
