Gaultier show celebrates Mexico!

A friend of mine who covers the Couture show for a publication was so excited to let me know about yesterday's (Jan 27) Jean Paul Gaultier Couture show in Paris.  Seems like it was a big Mexican celebration!  Models came down the catwalk wearing sombreros and even walking to a mariachi band.
The finale starred a famous french chanteusse who sang a Carmen Miranda- cool!
Check out the hair and makeup- Trenzas and all!  Jungle like colors were used on the eyes and the lips by head makeup artist Tom Pechaux, amazing textures on the lips and eyes (lots of MAC pigments seen backtage)  Look at some of the pictures:

Notice all the power under the eyes to catch the eyeshadow fall out

New shoot...

final shot
This is a shot right before the shoot...

Here's a shot taken with my Iphone right off the computer screen.
One of the shots...

This is what I used:
-Mary Kay concealer in Ivory 2
-Mary Kay tinted moisturizer in Ivory 2.  This product gives just the right amount of coverage for skin that doesn't look too made up.
-Benefit "high beam" which gave her that beautiful glossy finish.
-MAC fluid line in Blacktrack
-MAC mixing medium
-MAC glitter over the mixing medium...
-I carried the tinted moisturizer on the lips and put MAC's lipglass over it.
-NYX Bronzer #3 (dark)... Love this bronzer and I used it on the cheeks and as a contour.

I'll post the final (retouched) shot when I get it, but these are the real "raw" images...

MAC'S liquid last liner review...

I wanted to share this picture with you in which I used Mac's liquid last liner in Aqualine.  I used eye primer all over the lid first. (also prep-prime eye by MAC)  This is the best way for the liner to stay put.  The color payoff was awesome.  When I took this picture with my IPHONE, I had just applied one coat right on the lashline.

Best thing about it?  It wears very well, stayed on the model all day and didn't run or smudge.

Cool little product that comes in a ton of colors... I highly recommend it:

Ramona Gonzalez "Nite Jewel"- new Latina singer!

Bjork?  Portishead? who is that?  It's Ramona Gonzalez, she's from LA and a singer who started by performing at local Art exhibits.  She attended Occidental College in LA and says she gets her inspiration primarily from "1980"s freestyle and electronic disco and early "90's R&B.
She records exclusively on a portable eight-track cassette recorder, building up her songs with layers of analog synths and drum machines before adding her melodically ethereal vocals. After a self-released six-song CD-R titled My CD, which caught the ear of New York's tastemaking Other Records, and the What Did He Say 12" in 2008, Nite Jewel issued the full-length Good Evening through Human Ear Music.
Check her out on their website at www.nitejewel.com.
And here's a video of one of their songs performed live.  Support Chicas!!

Latinas hit the red carpet at tonight's Golden Globes!

It is a cold, rainy night in LA so the accesory of the night seems to be the umbrellas all the ladies are holding on their red carpet pictures.  Here are some of my favorites:

Penelope looking incredibly gorgeous- love the bronzed skin!

Christina sporting her new look.  Just beautiful...

Zoe looks great with the winged eyeliner

Cameron wearing an amazing Alexander McQueen gown- love the red lips on her

Mariah's understated makeup works well with the side swept bang.

Natural and Vegan "Pin Up Cosmetics" review...

Ph: Dominick Guillemont  Hair: Maria Makeup: Luis Styling: Brett McCall
Here is a shot  I wanted to share it with you as well as talk about "Pin Up" which were some of the cosmetics I used for the shot.  They sent me some eyeshadows that I just love!

First of all, their lip gloss, lip balms and mineral eye shadows are free from, carmine, parabens and FD&C colors.  As far as the colors, they are few but very well selected to get any look that you want.

On the shot above, I used their Mineral Blush in "Blushing Betty"  It was so easy to apply  and it gave just the right amount of pay off even on just one application.  It was also so popular with the model that she wanted to take it home with her!!

As a highlighter on the eyes I used their Mineral Face and Body shimmer in "Glamour".  This is a golden bronze color with a beautiful texture.  It would also be perfect to mix with your favorite blush to get a great highlight without looking too sparkly.

On the crease I used "Lulu Luxe"  this eyeshadow is a fantastic color to get a smoky yet natural effect.
Overall, I really recommend these.  The eyeshadows and blush are perfect for someone who wants a modern but very wearable look.  They also are very user friendly since you have to build up the intensity and you won't have a tendency to get too much on the first application.  You might want to stop there and add a little more- but not have to take off and start over.
And wait... did I talk about the packaging?  Cute!  Pin up girls rule!

Let's help Haiti! Text "Yele" to 501501

The devastating earthquake that left Haiti's capital in ruins Tuesday has hit too close to home for Wyclef Jean.  The singer, who was born in the Caribbean country, describes the magnitude-7.0 quake as a "natural disaster of unprecedented proportion, an earthquake unlike anything the country has ever experienced."

Believed to be the strongest quake in Haiti in more than 200 years, it struck at 4:53 pm.  Two powerful aftershocks measuring 5.9 and 5.5 soon followed, further damaging structures weakened by the initial quake.

The singer has sent out an urgent plea asking others to help his damaged homeland.

"I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse. The over 2 million people in Port-au-Prince tonight face catastrophe alone. We must act now," Jean said in a statement.

"President Obama has already said that the U.S. stands 'ready to assist' the Haitian people. The U.S. Military is the only group trained and prepared to offer that assistance immediately. They must do so as soon as possible," he added. "The international community must also rise to the occasion and help the Haitian people in every way possible."

Since establishing the non-profit Yele Haiti Foundation in 2004, Jean has been active in helping the charity to provide scholarships for the country's children. He has also worked with the United Nations World Food Programme to send food assistance to the island.

Jean is encouraging other to text "Yele" to 501501, which will automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund or visit Yele.org and click "donate" to help.

MAC's new "Liberty of London" Collection

The new Spring collection from MAC is coming in March and it was inspired by the British ultra chic Liberty of London store.  The collection looks really cool- Love the packaging- and the nail polish is destined to be a huge success.  The collection embodies and celebrates everything British.
Here's a shot of some of Liberty's famous prints which were certainly inspiration for the colors and graphics of the line:

And I couldn't write about all things British without showing a picture of my favorite Brit model of now.  Lara Stone- she's got that cool English girl look, with the tousled blond hair and the bleached eyebrows. And of course, the gap on her teeth!

And some product shots:

A Latina model walks most runway shows during 2009!

Her name is Marina Perez and she is from Madrid, Spain where she was born in 1984. She started modeling at the age of 12 and moved to NYC at 18.  I kept seeing her face over and over in most of the important shows lately and I was so happy to know she is Hispanic!
I will post a lot of pictures of her now that will illustrate what these girls have to go through during these "fashion weeks" that go on all over the world. From personal experience I can tell you that they can be quite grueling sometimes having 30 min to get hair and makeup completely changed from one show to the other.  There's a lot of running around in a frenetic crazy pace!
On the other hand, you can see this pictures and whenever you can't figure out how to change your makeup look- think about all the looks that makeup artists have created on this one face!
Just remember all these are pictures of THE same girl.  Enjoy!
These first looks focus on her eyes:

These look feature both lips and eyes:
